About Me

Hi there! I’m Abby, the hands (and heart) behind Sewn In Bloom. I’ve been sewing since I was about 12, when my Grammy first sat me down at her machine and taught me how to piece together my very first quilt.
Grammy had a club of women from her church who all got together on Wednesday's from 10-4 to sew. They called themselves "The Sisterhood of the Brother" (They all had Brother sewing machines haha) She lived about 2 hours away from my childhood home in Portland, OR so I would go and stay with her for a week, Tuesday evening through to the next Wednesday, and by the time my dad picked me up a week later I would have another lap quilt to add to my growing collection! I got my very first sewing machine from one of Grammy's friends from church (for free!) She didn't use it anymore and her own daughter didn't have any interest in sewing (what a shame). I still use that machine to this day! What started as quality time with Grammy quickly turned into a lifelong passion.
Over the years, I’ve fallen in love with creating things people can actually use — whether it’s a cozy quilt, self-tailored clothes, kitchen potholders, a handmade bag, or a piece that adds a personal touch to everyday life. Every item I make is crafted with care, attention to detail, and a whole lot of love, just like Grammy taught me.
My current home is in Las Vegas, NV and I was lucky enough to find my own community of quilters here who have encouraged me through many compliments of my work to finally start my own business. Inspired by flowers, bugs, and bold colors, all of my favorite things.
Thank you for supporting handmade and being part of my sewing journey!
